The Franciacorta DOCG Millesimato by Rizzini is the most compelling proof that Italy produces Méthode Classique sparkling wines capable of competing on equal terms with the finest French Champagnes. Rizzini is a winery in the Brescian Franciacorta zone that works with artisan rigour and a clear vision: to produce high-quality Franciacorta that respects the long timescales this production method demands, without commercial shortcuts.

The Millesimato — produced exclusively from the grapes of a single exceptional vintage, selected only when climatic conditions guarantee the necessary quality — represents the pinnacle of Rizzini's production. The grapes are predominantly Chardonnay, in purity or with a small proportion of Pinot Nero, harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified separately to preserve the specific characteristics of the vintage. The second fermentation takes place in bottle according to the Méthode Classique, with ageing on the lees for a minimum of 37 months — longer than non-vintage Franciacorta and comparable to the great Champagne Cuvées de Prestige — developing those complex autolytic notes of brioche, fresh bread dough, yeast and cheese rind that are the signature of great long-aged sparkling wines.

On the nose it is elegant and layered: white peach, candied citrus, white flowers, toasted almond, fresh brioche and a chalky mineral note reminiscent of the great white Burgundies. On the palate it is creamy and enveloping, with an ultra-fine and persistent perlage, a vibrant freshness that balances the roundness and a long, sophisticated finish. The ideal choice for elegant celebrations, important toasts or simply for surprising those who still believe that great sparkling wine can only come from France.
