Ernesto Ruffo

The Ruffo family has lived in San Briccio since 1627, if not earlier, but it's only since the late 19th century that there's any record, from ancestral tales, of grape cultivation and wine production. The definitive story, however, begins in the mid-1960s when Ernesto, born in 1936, aided by an uncle who was an expert viticulturist and winemaker, decided to embark on his journey as a hobbyist artisan winemaker. Thanks to his passion, study, testing, and the planting of his first "modern" vineyard, Ernesto embarked on this amateur journey and, given its success, transformed it into a small business in the mid-1990s, which later became a winery, founding Ernesto Ruffo Vino with his son Leonardo in the early 2000s.
