Roberto Abbate is a young Sicilian winemaker who, following his instinct and passion with the awareness of someone who has clear ideas, has been able to realize his dream of producing wines on Etna. In the vineyard owned by him, located in Passopisciaro, in the hamlet of Castiglione di Sicilia, the plants have an average age of 80 years and are cultivated according to the ancient peasant tradition, which includes only short pruning, plowing, hoeing, tying but above all treatments based on sulfur and copper in small quantities. In the cellar, the same non-interventionist approach to preserve the identity of the territory: over-used practically neutral barriques, spontaneous fermentations, little sulfur and an essential use of cork for capping.
