Rainer Wess

Rainer Wess started his business in 2003 in Krems by renting a small space and buying grapes from the best locations in the area. However, the space soon became too small and so the need for a new location pushed Rainer to purchase the old cellar of the Wilhering Abbey in Sandgrube in Krems in 2010, which was expanded, renovated and equipped with the most modern technologies. Today the company cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards, eight owned and seven rented, spread between the two adjacent valleys of Krems and Wachau, territories with a high vocation for winemaking which, despite their proximity, have very different soil and climate characteristics. The Rainer Wess labels express the potential of each variety vinified in purity, telling us about the diversity of these two terroirs.
