Langhe Nebbiolo - Sobrero
The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC by Sobrero is what the Piedmontese affectionately call "the little Barolo" — born from the same Nebbiolo grapes, the same vineyards on the marly soils of Castiglione Falletto, but with a shorter ageing period that highlights its aromatic freshness and immediate drinkability without sacrificing the complexity and elegance that define this historic family's terroir.
For those yet to discover Sobrero, the Langhe Nebbiolo is the perfect starting point: it offers a window into the winery's traditional and uncompromising style, the quality of its grapes and the personality of the territory at an accessible price, without having to wait out the long ageing years demanded by the Barolo Riserva Pernanno. The DOC Langhe Nebbiolo regulations allow for a much shorter minimum ageing period than Barolo — the wine is therefore released younger, preserving a freshness and fragrance that the great Barolo only acquires after many years in bottle.
On the nose it is immediately recognisable as Nebbiolo: fresh rose, red cherry, raspberry, warm spice, violet and a mineral hint of graphite and chalk typical of the Castiglione Falletto soils. On the palate it is elegant and tense, with present but already well-integrated tannins, a vibrant and cutting acidity — the unmistakable signature of quality Nebbiolo — and a persistent finish with notes of red fruit and flowers. A wine that can be opened now or cellared for 3 to 5 years to gain further complexity.
The most accessible and immediate way to discover the world of Sobrero and the Langhe.
