La Violette is the most evocative cuvée from Domaine Philippe Cordonnier, a small artisan producer nestled in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits — the hillside appellation stretching west of the legendary Côte de Nuits, home to some of the world's greatest Pinot Noirs, from Gevrey-Chambertin to Vosne-Romanée.

The name "La Violette" is no coincidence: it captures the distinctive violet fragrance that Pinot Noir expresses on these limestone hillside soils, where significant day-to-night temperature swings preserve natural aromatic freshness and acidity. The wine is aged in French oak barrels to build structure without sacrificing the variety's hallmark lightness and transparency.

On the nose, it opens with disarming finesse: violet flowers (as the name promises), red cherry, raspberry, forest floor, and a delicate hint of warm spice. On the palate it is elegant and poised, with silky fine-grained tannins, vibrant freshness, and a long, mineral finish. Far from the opulent, heavily oaked styles, this is a Burgundy that speaks honestly of its terroir and its maker's craft.

Hand-selected by Emporio Divino from among the finest small domaines of Burgundy, this is the perfect introduction to the appellation for those who want to explore Burgundy without paying Grand Cru prices.
